The exhilarating stretch of the Russian River!
Join us for the most private and challenging stretch of the Russian River. Your exploration of this Class 2 upper section begins at the campground of our friends at Wildhaven Sonoma Glamping, just upstream in Healdsburg’s famous Alexander Valley.
This area has pristine waters, narrower passageways, and an unexplored feeling. Abundant wildlife is on display here, including lots of fish and frequent sightings of otter families, ospreys, deer, turtles, and the occasional bald eagle.
How it Works
8:00AM: Check-in at River’s Edge Kayak and Canoe.
Parking is available across the street at Veterans Memorial Beach or free parking is on Front Street.
Once there, you meet your guide, get an orientation and safety talk, then you’ll hop on the shuttle bus for your beautiful drive to Wildhaven Campground for launch.
Once there, we’ll set you up in your boat and start your adventure on this Class 2 wilderness paddle.
We paddle through currents and moving water. But we also keep an eye out for turtles often seen sunning themselves on logs, snowy egrets, Blue Herons, ducks and otters. All otter spotters get an Otter Pop at the end of the trip!
Halfway through, we’ll pull over at another private beach for a delicious picnic lunch while you rest and relax.
After lunch, we’ll continue the last 5 miles to end at River’s Edge in Healdsburg.
TRIP ROUTE AND DISTANCE
Alexander Valley to Lunch : 9.5 miles
Lunch spot to Healdsburg: 4.5 miles
To finish, there are two options:
1. Paddle the whole trip to River’s Edge where you’ll get your Otter Pop and take a proud photo before you leave.
2. Finish after lunch and we’ll shuttle you back to River’s Edge instead of paddling the last five miles.
Then we say goodbye and good job! We hope you enjoyed your adventure!
